Mr. von Ditmar specializes in Fine Art and Decorative Arts
with a focus on 20th Century European unusual and distinctly rare pieces of the highest quality.
After studies in Salzburg Austria, London England and Stockholm Sweden,
Swedish-born German Joakim P.W. von Ditmar, after a successful career in fashion, but always having been driven by his passion for collecting, spent several years working for renowned auction houses, before becoming a
private dealer and Fine Art Consultant in 1989.
As such he has both dealt with individual pieces and entire collections.
His clients, from the late HRH the Farah Diba, Princess Soraya, to internationally renown decorators & dealers, to Mrs. Mouna Al Ayoub, have taken him all around the world, following his taste for the eclectic and rare, hence his
wide range of expertise.
From Stockholm he relocated to Paris, where he specialized in Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Modern masters, in 1996 New York was added, at the same time widening his field to contain more of the Decorative Arts as well.
His last highly acclaimed exhibition was Swedish Design 1920 -1930,
which he curated and organized in collaboration with the Barry Friedman Gallery NY.
From Pre-columbian over to Shoji Hamada’s Japanese studio pottery,
Ivar Johnsson’s stoneware & Wilhelm Kåge’s “Argenta”.
1500th Century paintings over Matisse to Wifredo Lam & Andy Warhol.
From Barock to Swedish Empire, Swedish Grace by the likes of Carl Malmsten &
Axel-Einar Hjort, Frits Henningsen to Gilbert Poillerat to Just Andersen bronzes,
to lighting by Verner Panton.
Recently, Mr. von Ditmar was also appointed representative
for the M. Måås-Fjetterström textile workshop for North America.
